Maintenance

A serviced systemis a cheaper system.

Heating gets ignored until it stops. By then the cheap fix has usually become an expensive one — and an unserviced appliance is often out of warranty as well.

Why it matters

What neglect actually costs.

An unserviced boiler quietly loses efficiency. A fouled heat exchanger, a blocked condensate trap or a system full of magnetite all make it burn more gas for the same heat. On a heat pump, a dirty coil or the wrong flow temperature can push running costs up sharply without anything appearing to be wrong.

Small faults also have a habit of announcing themselves in January rather than July.

What a service covers

Warranty and safety

Most manufacturer warranties are void without an annual service recorded by a registered engineer — a claim on a five or ten year warranty will be checked against your service history. Annual servicing is also how carbon monoxide risks and failing safety devices get caught. Landlords have a legal duty to hold a current Gas Safety Record for every gas appliance.

How we handle it

We keep a record of what was fitted, what was set and when it is next due, and get in touch when a service comes round so it does not fall off your list. Servicing is available whether or not we installed the system, and landlord certificates are issued the same day for letting agents and property managers.

Not sure when yours was last done? Get in touch and we will check the appliance, tell you honestly what it needs, and set it up on an annual reminder.

Due a service?

A description of the fault and the make of the appliance is usually enough for me to tell you what's involved.
